The relationship between each

The Teibo Club’s current four-member structure was established when Yo Nagisa and Natsumi joined the club as new students in the presence of Director Kuroiwa and Senior Ohno.
So basically, we see a lot of combinations of Nagisa and Natsumi, and Manager Kuroiwa and Senior Ohno.
However, in addition to Natsumi, who is highly adaptable by nature, Yo Nagisa, who was a beginner at fishing, quickly got to know the two seniors, so there is quite a bit of interaction between them.

Yang Nagisa and Natsumi are the most frequent pairing in the story, and there are many times when the two of them go fishing alone.
It’s been a long time since they’ve seen each other, but since the friendly Natsumi is the one who goes for it, it seems they’ve quickly become childhood friends.
In particular, there is a lot of skinship, such as body touching, and Natsumi sticks to her from behind and follows her when she freezes during cooking because she is not good with fish entrails.

There are also unexpected patterns of interaction, such as when Natsumi, who looks like an idiot but is actually a smart girl, teaches Younagisa, who looks like an honor student but is unable to study, how to study in her room.
The relationship is such that Natsumi always takes the lead.

Although they are in different grades, Director Kuroiwa and Senior Ohno give the impression of having an easygoing relationship.
The point is that Director Kuroiwa, who is always smug and aloof, only turns pale and scared when Ohno-senpai blames him.
Ohno-senpai is usually timid and quiet, but when it comes to her favorite fish, she’s very talkative, and it’s quite meaningful that she’s only bullish towards Director Kuroiwa.

The relationship between Yo Nagisa and Manager Kuroiwa is that of a tease and a tormentor.
At the same time, we often see them interacting in a rather spartan manner, such as when they dare to make Nagisa, who is not good with living things, handle a fish.
However, when Yo Nagisa, who was reluctant at first, actually tries fishing and says, “It was so much fun,” he shows a mild smile, giving the impression that he is somehow gently watching over Yo Nagisa, who is getting more and more into fishing.

Natsumi looks up to Director Kuroiwa like an older sister, and their interactions are like those of real sisters.
Natsumi is more concerned about him than he is about her, giving him advice on fashion, and worrying about his lack of interest in her career path, like an uninhibited older sister and a worried younger sister.

Ohno-senpai provides gentle guidance to the two younger students, mainly in the areas of fishing and cooking.
Especially for Yo Nagisa, the “Yo Nagisa and Makoto’s Cooking Ganbare! In particular, he frequently teaches Yo Nagisa how to cook fish, as the “Yo Nagisa and Makoto’s cooking corner” has become a regular feature.
For this reason, she is quite dependent on him, and there was even a time when she hid behind Ohno-senpai’s back …… because she was frightened by the grossness of the blue-green algae (caterpillar) that Yo Nagisa uses for kiss fishing.

In this way, each of them has created a good relationship with each other.

The key yuri element is ……?

Many people have a preconceived notion that manga and anime about girls getting together and doing common activities are either “yuri” or have “yuri” elements.
In fact, there are a number of club activity manga and anime such as “K-ON! Hanayamata”, “YuruYuri”, “Hibike! Euphonium” and other popular works with yuri elements.
In particular, “Houkago Teibo Nichijou” has a lot in common with “Yamanosume”, a work that shares the same outdoor hobby, so many people must have had the preconceived notion that “Houkago Teibo Nichijou” was an anime with yuri elements.

As it turns out, there are not many yuri elements in this work.
However, I can’t say that there are none at all.

For example, there is a scene where Yo Nagisa is the first of the Teibou club to start fishing for kisses, and although she gets bites, she can’t catch any and is depressed.
Natsumi brings him a cup of barley tea, then sits down next to him and gives him encouragement and advice while chatting.
After getting a hint from Natsumi’s advice, Yang Nagisa honestly says, “Thank you,” and Natsumi, who would normally smile back, shows an unusually embarrassed expression.

Although the yuri element is minor, and the relationship between the two is that of friends, it is true that there are many yuri fanatics who prefer this level of distance rather than blatantly sticking together.
In that sense, I would say that this is a work that has almost no yuri elements, but does have elements that yuri lovers can enjoy.

Summary

The yuri element is not very strong, but it’s a work where you can enjoy the friendship between girls!
If you’re looking for a work with less yuri and less chaos than “Yamanosume”, this is the one for you!
