The Irregular at Magic High School’s Inferior Visitors Arc Begins Airing! A review of the first season with some thoughts

The Irregular at Magic High School’s inferior student is being animated again and will start airing on October 3, 2020.
This is the so-called second season.
The first season, the previous one, was broadcast in 2014, so if we exclude the theatrical version released during that time, this will be the first broadcast in about six years.
In this article, I will be reviewing the first season and introducing some of my own thoughts about The Irregular at Magic High School’s inferior student is being animated again and will start airing on October 3, 2020.

For the sake of structure, I’ll divide the content into the entrance chapter, the nine-school battle chapter, and the Yokohama mayhem chapter.

I will introduce the contents of the first season of the anime “The Inferior of Magic High School”.
For the sake of structure, I’ll divide the content into the entrance chapter, the nine-school battle chapter, and the Yokohama mayhem chapter.

Introductory chapter

Tatsuya Shiba, the main character of this story, is admitted to the First High School Attached to the National University of Magic (hereinafter referred to as the First High School) with his younger sister, Fukayuki.
However, the selection process for admission is what separates the siblings.
At Daiichi High School, there is a custom to refer to the students with excellent grades as “Weeds” and the alternates with inferior grades as “Blooms.
Fukayuki had complained to the effect that “your brother is more skilled in magic than I am, and there is no way he is inferior to me,” and the fact that the method of the First High School’s entrance exam could not accurately measure Tatsuya’s inherent power led to Tatsuya being incorrectly rated as an [inferior student].
As proof of this, Tatsuya had to fight a mock battle with Hattori Hattori, the vice president of the student council, in the process of bickering between first and second year students.
Tatsuya met many of his classmates, and together with them, they fought off a terrorist group that was stirring up the school, and also destroyed the anti-magic international political group Blanche, restoring normalcy in the school.

The Battle of the Nine Schools

Some time after the destruction of Blanche, Tatsuya, Fukayuki, and the others decided to participate in a friendly ball game between nine national magic university affiliated high schools, including the First High School.
Tatsuya was recommended by the student council and was chosen to be a member of the technical staff for the tournament.
There were some people who said that they didn’t want to be left in the hands of a second-year student, but after Tatsuya’s overwhelming CAD coordination skills were shown, the opposition died down and he was officially allowed to participate as a member of the technical staff.
Just then, during the tournament, a mysterious criminal organization called the International Crime Syndicate “No Head Dragon” interfered with the First High School’s participation in the tournament.
Against this threat, the selected members of the First High School achieved success, and when Fukayuki won the Mirage Bat competition, the First High School was declared the overall champion.
Tatsuya, who was angered by Fukayuki’s harm, took out the leaders of the crime syndicate with his military acquaintance, effectively destroying them.
The tournament itself was not cancelled, and the result proved the strength of Daiichi High School.

Yokohama Mayhem Edition

The third year student council member retired, and Fukayuki, a first year student, was chosen to be the vice president of the student council.
While Tatsuya was analyzing the Philosopher’s Stone at home, his senior, Suzune Ichihara, asked him to participate in the National High School Magic Essay Competition, which he eventually accepted.
Things change when Sayuri Shiba, Tatsuya’s mother-in-law, brings him a strange stone called Relic, and Tatsuya’s surrounding environment begins to stir.
The competition and the presence of the Relic lead to a confrontation with a large organization called the Greater Asian Union, and the people of Daiichi High School get involved.
Tatsuya and Fukayuki’s classmates were no exception, and they were attacked by the organization’s officials.
In the end, Fukayuki unsealed Tatsuya’s deep-seated power and activated the Material Burst to annihilate the Grand Asia Alliance fleet.
This event later became a day known as the “Scorching Halloween”.

Why is my brother, Tatsuya Shiba, in the same [first grade] as my sister, Fukayuki?
When you read this work, you may wonder why Tatsuya, who is supposed to be the older brother, is in the same grade as his sister, Fukayuki.
In fact, the reason why they are in the same grade is not that Tatsuya caused trouble and stayed in the first high school, but there is a secret in the “birthday” of the siblings.

In the Japanese education system, there is a rule that even if someone is born early, the school year is from April 1, 2079 to March 31, 2080, so Tatsuya and Fukayuki were able to go to school as the same grade even though they were about a year apart from each other.

What is the secret of Tatsuya Shiba’s strongest strength?

The overwhelming destructive power that Tatsuya displayed in the Yokohama Mayhem Arc, like the Material Burst, has a secret in Tatsuya’s birth.
To put it simply, Tatsuya gained monster-like strength in exchange for abandoning all emotions other than protecting (almost loving) Fukayuki.
It’s not mentioned much in the first season, but what we can infer is that he dodged a “contract” to protect his sister, Fukayuki.
Even so, the person Tatsuya calls his master, Kokonoe Yakumo, is a ninja and a master of ancient magic, so even Tatsuya would be in trouble if he made an enemy.

Summary

The Irregular at Magic High School’s Inferior Student will start its second season as an anime from the Visitors Arc, which is the story after the Yokohama Mayhem Arc.
It will start airing on October 3rd, and if you haven’t seen this work yet, I recommend watching it from the first season’s entrance chapter.
One of the highlights of the second season will be how Tatsuya eliminates his enemies.
