From ‘I’ve been reincarnated as a villainous daughter with nothing but a doomsday flag in an otome game…’, we feature Sophia, Nicole’s younger sister who becomes friends with the main character Katarina.
We will thoroughly investigate whether the “cursed child” mentioned in the story is real and who she really is.
Sofia Ascalt Character Profile
She appears in “I’ve been reincarnated as a villainous daughter with only a doomsday flag in a maiden game…”.
She has pure white hair and skin and red eyes, which is rare in this world.
As a child, she used to wear her hair tied up in a green clip, but after she grew up, she wore her hair in a long ribbon on either side of her bangs.
She is a character from the maiden game FORTUNE LOVER, and is the younger sister of Nicole Ascalt, the eldest son of Count Ascalt’s family.
In the game, she is placed as Nicole Root’s rival character, but in the world where the protagonist has been reincarnated as Katarina, she has come to adore Katarina, and they have a relationship as friends rather than rivals.
Her personality is calm and quiet.
She is shy and is not good at public appearances, so she met Katarina at a tea party she was attending to get used to.
He liked romance novels and hit it off with Katarina, with whom he shared a common interest, and he developed an exceptional feeling for her.
After growing up, he has become close to not only Katarina, but also Mary, the daughter of the Marquess of Hunt, with whom she is close.
She is voiced by Inori Minase, the voice actor in charge of the character.
The True Story of the Cursed Child
Sofia and Katarina’s meeting was due to Katarina getting used to her otherworldly life and successfully breaking her doom flag, which allowed her to have more freedom in her life and discover a new hobby.
Due to the influence of her best friend, Atsuko Sasaki (a.k.a. “Acchan”), Katarina became a severe otaku before her death and lived her life surrounded by manga and anime, so she was thirsty for stories after being reincarnated in another world without them.
That’s when I came across romance novels.
Romance novels are basically romance novels, but they are a category characterized by the fact that they can be heterosexual or homosexual, and by the fact that they have common-sense content, and in a narrower sense they can refer to “translated versions of foreign romance works,” but they generally include purely domestic works as well.
In the aristocratic society of the other world where Catalina has been reincarnated, romance novels seem to be considered trivial books, and she feels lonely because there is no one around who shares her interests.
Then she met Sophia at a tea party hosted by her fiancé, Geord and his brother, Alan.
Katarina, who has a strange habit of unconsciously spouting lines from her favorite novels, unintentionally muttered lines from her novels, partly because she looked exactly like Sophia, a character in the romance novel Princess Emerald and Sophia, which she was obsessed with.
Then Sophia immediately understood that it was a line from “Princess Emerald and Sophia”.
She was also a girl who loved romance novels.
When Catalina finally found a girl with whom she had common interests, she was delighted and invited Sophia to her home.
She and her brother Nicole later visit the Duke of Claes’ house where Catalina is waiting.
There, Katarina realizes that Sofia is the sister of Nicole, the male target of the “FORTUNE LOVER” attack.
But fortunately, Sophia is not a rival character, and Atsuko spoiled it for her before she died that befriending her would not lead to Nicole’s route entry and doomed ending, so she decided to become friends with her without worrying about it.
They had a good time together and Katarina liked Sofia’s pure white hair, and she couldn’t help but ask if she could touch it. May I? I ask.
With that one word, the smile fades from Sophia’s face and a puzzled look appears on her face.
In the different world in which the film takes place, there is a mix of different hair colors, including blonde, silver, and red hair, but white hair and red eyes are rare and are perceived as creepy, and Sophia was referred to as the “cursed child” by those around her.
This did not mean that Sophia was actually cursed, but rather that those around her who were jealous of Sophia’s father’s accomplishments and the famous Countess Ascalt family took advantage of Sophia’s appearance reputation and spread the smear that she was “cursed”.
Fortunately, her brother Nicole and her parents are very protective of Sophia and care for her.
However, when they denied Sofia’s rumors, the people around her became more and more slanderous about her, which hurt her even more, so there was nothing they could do about it.
In that sense, she might have been a truly cursed child.
To escape the cold-blooded eyes of the people around her, Sofia retreated to her room and stopped socializing, but she decided it wasn’t a good idea to continue and attended a tea party with her brother.
There, she meets Katarina, who not only thinks her looks are disgusting, but also praises them, which frees her from the curse of being “bound by the eyes of the people around her”.
