Final Fantasy XV: The New Kingdom

The game app was launched on June 29, 2017 and can be played on both iOS and Android.
It is developed by Machine Zone, an American company. (Currently, it has been acquired by AppLovin.)

The genre of the game is MMORPG, but it also has strong simulation elements and is sometimes referred to as a simulation game or strategy game.
It is a nation-building game where you build a new country in Ios, which was also the stage of FFXV, and compete with other players to expand your country by building facilities and training soldiers.

Since the game is based on the world of FFXV, Noctis and other main characters from FFXV also appear.
It is mainly for people who are into FFXV, but there is no connection to the main story.
Since the main FFXV game has already finished its development, this is the one and only content for those who want to continue to experience the world of FFXV.

Billing is done in the form of purchasing “billing packs” that give you an advantage in the game.
You will need to pay a considerable amount of money to get in line with the top players, so take that into consideration when considering whether or not you should pay.

WAR OF THE VISIONS Final Fantasy Brave Exvius: War of the Visions

The game app was launched on November 14, 2019 and can be played on both iOS and Android.
It is being developed by gumi.

This is a gaiden work of FFBE.
The story features Monto Lionis, the first prince of Lionis, and depicts a conflict in which countries fight for supremacy and crystals.

The genre is Tactical RPG.
The game system is based on the classic “Final Fantasy Tactics”, where you move around on a 3D field with squares and use abilities to fight against enemy forces.
The game also features familiar characters from FFBE, so it’s a bit like a FFBE fan game, but the game can be enjoyed on its own.

Billing is done in the form of purchasing “Billing Packs”.
The main purpose of these packs is to obtain “phantoms”, which are used for “summoning gachas”, “purchasing items”, “updating the store and hard quests”, and “recovering stamina”.
There are three types of phantoms: paid phantoms, unique free phantoms, and common free phantoms, and only common free phantoms can be obtained without paying.

There are some items that can only be purchased with paid phantoms, so paying for them will give you an advantage in the game.
However, you can still enjoy the game to a certain extent without paying.

As of September 2020, the game has surpassed 12 million downloads.

Ended Apps

Unfortunately, there are some game apps that have ended their services and are already unplayable.

Final Fantasy Agito, which started in 2014, attracted attention because it was a prototype for FF Type-0, but the service ended the following year in 2015.
Final Fantasy World Wide Words”, a typing RPG title unique to the FF series, also ended after a year and a half.

Final Fantasy Grandmasters”, an online RPG launched in 2015, surpassed 4 million DL, but ended in 2019.
Final Fantasy VII G-BIKE, which picked up popular FFVII mini-games, and World of Final Fantasy Merimero, a sequel to World of Final Fantasy, also ended after a year.

Mobius Final Fantasy, which started in 2015 and enjoyed a long-lasting popularity, recording 20 million DL, also came to an end in 2020.

On the other hand, there are some game apps whose online service has ended but you can still play the offline version.
The online version of “Pictlogica Final Fantasy”, which started in 2013, has already been closed, but the Nintendo 3DS software “Pictlogica Final Fantasy≒” continues to be distributed.
Final Fantasy Legends Toki no Kensetsu, which started in 2015, went through a renewal process and was discontinued in 2017, moving on to Final Fantasy Legends II Toki no Kensetsu, which is a buy-one-get-one-free version.

Transplanted Works

The FF numbering titles I-VII, IX, and the XIII trilogy have been ported to smartphone apps.
XV is not a ported title, although there is a customized “Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition” for the app.

Other releases include “Final Fantasy IV: The After – Return of the Moon”, “Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion’s War”, and “Final Fantasy Legends: Warrior of Light and Darkness”.

Summary

FF has been releasing a lot of applications since the days of Galaga, so there are many ported games from Galaga, and if you were to check them all out, there would be quite a few.
Therefore, it is safer to determine the direction you like first before considering downloading.
At one time, all the games were for old fans, but now there are more and more titles that can be enjoyed even if you haven’t played any of the past titles, so try to find the best FF for you based on the genre and reputation!
