The Mayfly Project draws a different route for each medium. Ayano, in particular, has a completely different life in the novel/anime and the manga. In the novel route, Ayano grew up with an innocent personality that never stopped smiling. He had a good relationship with his family, although he scolded them when they played a prank on him, and was somewhat overly affectionate, especially from his father and Kano, and there was a particular uproar over his love affair with a sexy guy. In junior high school, he becomes friends with his classmate Shintaro, who was too smart to live a boring life, mainly because Ayano actively talks to him.

She supports her family after her mother’s death in an accident, and after entering high school, she spends time with her father’s students, Haruka Kunose and Takane Enomoto, in addition to Shintaro.

She was especially close to Takane, as they were both women, and they exchanged e-mails with each other, so they knew about each other’s love lives.

Determined to take on the mastermind

Ayano on the theory route learns that a “brilliant snake” inhabits his father, who wishes to bring his mother back to life. He had Kano, who has the power to “deceive” him, go to the high school instead to find out what the Saenae Snake’s purpose and plans were.

If the Saeki Snake’s plan to bring all the snakes together to fulfill his father’s wishes is fulfilled, his younger siblings, who are the owners of the red eyes, and even Haruka and Takane, will be sacrificed.
That’s why Ayano attempted to thwart the plan by jumping off the roof of his school in the summer of his freshman year of high school and staying there after being swallowed by the Mayfly Days himself.

Without saying anything to Haruka, Takane, or Shintaro, Ayano continued to have serious problems on his own.

Also, the ability of the Eye resides in those who have a wish worthy of its power. The fact that Ayano was inhabited by “eyes” is a form of conformity with the desire she had just before her death to convey her wish to the person she loved.

The situation changes for Ayano in the manga route when “Set met Marie and brought her to the Takiyama family early on”.
In the novel and anime, only Ayaka and Kenjiro were the only ones who suffered a landslide on their way to investigate the “eye” and died there.
However, in the manga, Marie was linked to the Medusa lore regarding the Eye, and Ayano and Marie accompanied the Takiyama’s, as well as Ayano and Marie, in the investigation. They were accompanied by Ayano and Marie, as well as the Takiyama couple. The Mayfly Clan has been killed many times by the brilliant snake, and each time Marie has been able to rewind the world. The manga route is no exception, as Marie has to rewind the world after she tries to resist the brilliant snake, but ends up having a number of her friends killed.

Ayano, however, proposes to leave the memory of this tragedy and frustration behind so that she can one day defeat the brilliant snake. If a snake can replace life, then life can replace the snake. …… Ayano wished Marie to turn her own life into an ability that would allow her to “burn” this frustration into her own life and entrust it to Sintero.

Thus, the Ayano of the manga route became a snake that “burned into his eyes” and became Sintero’s ability to repeat the world over and over again.

Incidentally, even though the encounters were different, it seems that a love affair developed for Shintaro in the manga route when he rushed to the scene of the life-threatening battle with the brilliant snake in order to “save Ayano from fighting to protect someone else”.

Shintaro in the anime route has the ability to “burn” the memories of tragedies that have been repeated hundreds of times in the manga route and beyond, and he was able to take revenge on the brilliant snake. Ayano in the anime route also plays an active role in the final battle scene by using the “eye-gaze” ability, and it can be said that Ayano Tateyama is a very important figure in the story of “Mayfly Project”, not only in the route.
