【We Never Learn】Is Nariyuki Yuiga the ideal image of a harem romantic comedy protagonist? A thorough comparison with the other main characters

How often and how much exposure do you have to Lucky Skeeves?

One of the promises of a harem romantic comedy is the lucky sketch.
It’s a happening where the heroine turns into a rude person or actually touches the heroine in front of you.

There is a clear difference between magazines.

Sunday’s harem romantic comedies are light, with a lot less lucky skeletons.
The magazines are “Love Hina” and “Negima! “There is a mixture of light lines with a high degree of exposure, such as “The Town You’re In” and “Domestic Girlfriend”, adult lines, and lines with almost no exposure, such as “School Rumble” and “Fifth Equal”.

Jump is mostly unified in terms of light lines with a high level of exposure, and “We Never Learn” is one of them.
Lucky Skebe is encountered less often than Rito and Kogarashi, about the same as in the middle of “Ichigo 100%”.

And this is the main reason why the Lucky Kebe is less prominent.
Romantic comedy protagonists with few lucky skeletons are generally prone to being subdued.
Single-minded characters like Kenji Harima in “Scramble,” ” Gotoku! I don’t care if it’s a cross-dressing character like Hayate the Combat Butler”, but for Nariyuki, the frequency of Lucky Kebe is even a lifeline to his popularity.

If the frequency of Lucky Skeeves increases in the future, Nariyuki’s support base will naturally expand …… or not, there will be more fans to rejoice in.

Flirting equally with each heroine

A hero in this genre needs to be fair.
If a protagonist has strong feelings for a particular heroine even though it is a harem series, fans of the other heroines are not amused, and more importantly, it is obviously problematic for a person to be thoughtful towards other heroines in such a state of mind.
This was probably one of the main reasons why Raku in “Nisekooi” was so widely criticized.

Nariyuki is not a romantic person and does not have any special feelings for anyone.
In that sense, he’s a pretty flat person.

He has a perception of Ritumeikan as a “beautiful girl,” and it can be seen that he is fully aware of her as a girl.
However, at the same time, he is aware of the relationship between the educator and his student, and he wants to lead her to her desired career path, so I get the impression that he doesn’t see her as a romantic interest.

Fumino is his student as well, but he seems to have a strong sense of being a teacher who teaches her how to be a woman.
Although he relies on her, he doesn’t seem to be aware of her as a love interest, but we can see him being attracted to her when she puts on her lipstick, for example.

The most aggressive Uruka is encountered most often in Lucky Skeletons, partly because of its many gaps, and there are many scenes where she is naturally aware of herself as a girl.
He can be said to be the person whom she is most interested in romantically, since she once thought that he might like her, but at the same time, he seems to be the person whom she feels the strongest sense of friendship with because of the length of time they have been together.

Due to Mafuyu-sensei’s position as student and teacher, she wouldn’t be in a situation where she would have romantic feelings for someone unless there was something wrong with her.
However, she will be aware that she is showing herself a true character that she would never show to others, and she seems to have the most exciting scenes because she has an adult charm that the other heroines don’t have.

Ashumi-senpai is the latest heroine to arrive on the scene, so she’s inevitably at a disadvantage.
On the other hand, due to her devilish personality, she has more episodes that go a step further in the romantic direction than the other heroines.

The number of individual episodes for each of the heroines included in the first 14 volumes of the series is a little low for Ashimyū-senpai because of her late appearance, but the other four are all in a row as if they were attempting to do so.
There are few romantic comedies that treat each heroine equally and in terms of fairness, Nariyuki is one of the top class heroes in the history of romantic comedies.

However, as a romantic comedy hero, I have the impression that he doesn’t have any romantic feelings.
In that sense, Nariyuki is still in the development stage of his character.

Summary

The heroes of harem romantic comedies tend to be beaten because of their insensitivity and their tendency to get involved with various heroines, but I feel that Nariyuki is rather well accepted.
He has no quirks, is tolerant, and doesn’t act strangely, which is one of his strengths.
He’s the perfect protagonist for anyone who wants to watch a stress-free romantic comedy!
