Considering the aforementioned rank system, there are 13 Shinigami in the Shinigami world, but not all of them appear in the play. In this article, I would like to explain about the following 3 Shinigami that are related to the story.
Ryuk

The owner of the Death Note picked up by Yagami Light. When you think of the Grim Reaper in Death Note, the first thing you think of is Ryuk.
His favorite things are apples and games. His dislikes are boredom. The story begins with him dropping the Death Note to pass the time because he was bored with his life in the boring Reaper world.
Anyway, he liked interesting things and watched human conflicts from the sidelines like a game.
His relationship with Yagami Light is just a way to pass the time. In the end, he drives Light Yagami to his death by his own hand.
His Grim Reaper Rank is 6, placing him in the middle of the Grim Reaper World. As far as the Nekosha in the play is concerned, I’m not interested in the Reaper rank. He seems to think that it’s better if he can pass the time with interesting things.
Rem

He is the Grim Reaper who gave the Death Note to Misa Misamisa, aka the second Kira.
His favorite thing is love. What he hates is Yagami Light. He hates Yagami Light more than anyone else who uses the Death Note as a trick, and even said that he would kill Misamisa if anything happened to her. In the end, he cooperates with Light Yagami Light out of his love for Misamisa and dies.
He has a Reaper rank of 4, which is higher than Ryuk. He seems to be well versed in the Reaper World and the rules of the Death Note. It can be said that he was an unusually industrious Reaper among the many lazy Reapers.
Geras

What I like is “sea sand”. Dislikes writing. He is an odd reaper who hates writing, even though he has to write in order to kill humans.
He fell in love with Misa Misa and used the Death Note to save her from being killed by a stalker.
He dies because he saved a human being. He had a kind heart, not unlike the Grim Reaper, who died saving someone he loved.
He has the lowest Grim Reaper rank of all, 13.
Summary
In this article, I’ve summarized the following information about the Shinigami in “Death Note”.
・Setting of the Shinigami
・Relationships with humans
・The main grim reapers in the play
The Grim Reaper has been shrouded in mystery for much of the play. Although the setting has been revealed in the official fanbook and other sources, there is still a lot of mystery wrapped up in it. I hope that the full extent of the author’s work on the setting will be revealed someday.
