Based purely on the results of the second season and the movie version, I can’t say that a third season of “Osomatsu-san” is highly likely to be made.
The 2nd season’s disc sales are passable for a sequel, but if the 3rd season can be expected to sell as well, the rate of decline from the 1st season to the 2nd season will inevitably be a bottleneck.
If the third term is also down 4/5, the average number of copies sold will be as low as 2000.
If a work is extremely popular overseas or if the comics are a big hit, there is a chance that a sequel will be produced even if it doesn’t bring in much in the way of disc sales.
However, Osomatsu-san is not that type of anime.
However, there are some positive things to look forward to for the third season.
The disc sales of “Eiga no Osomatsu-san” sold about 20,000 copies, showing that there are still many fans who will buy the discs.
