After hearing about the current state of the earth and parting with the giant creature, Yuri says, “Hey Chi-chan. I heard the earth is ending. After that, they stare at each other in silence for 9 seconds.
The important thing here is the “9 seconds”. This doesn’t mean that “9 seconds are depicted as having passed in the anime world”, but rather that 9 seconds is the length of the “anime play time” when the two are looking at each other in silence.
Naturally, animation has a limitation of time. So it’s okay to cut it out as long as the intent is conveyed.
However, it’s important to preserve the 9 seconds of the two staring at each other.
If all you want to show is that they are looking at each other, you don’t need nine seconds. 3-5 seconds is enough to show that they are looking at each other, or that they are looking at each other.
