While Joshi Waste is a story about high school girls, the main characters in Asashiasabase are junior high school girls.
The role of a high school girl can be played by an actress around 20 years old, but playing a junior high school girl, or even a rather childish playground character, is indeed a stretch, and needs to be played by an actress in a much younger age range.
However, because the Labor Standards Act stipulates that “children under 18 years of age may not appear on television after 10:00 p.m.,” the actors in late-night dramas must be at least 18 years old.
Raising the age from junior high school to high school … is also unrealistic and would destroy the worldview of the series.
There is no possibility of making a live-action film, but actually doing so may be more difficult than expected.
