Kuro and Cella

Second year high school student Kuro Fukase, who believes that “everything in this world is an enemy,” is a quick fighter and doesn’t know how to take it all in, and is shunned by everyone.
Since his adoptive parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fukase, were transferred to the countryside, Kuro lives alone in the prefecture, but he has no friends and distracts himself from his loneliness by fantasizing about his former childhood friends, sisters Jushiki and Iroha.

On the night of Christmas Eve, Kuro sees what looks like a black beast destroying a Christmas tree in the city. Shortly afterwards, he sees a hand grenade dropped by a nearby girl, and Black is invited to accompany her.
The girl, whose name is Sera, has a penchant for being a hero and says, “Let’s save the world by defeating the bad guys together! And Black is forcefully told that he is the only one who can see it. Sera says that only the chosen ones can see the grenade, and Kuro succeeds in fighting off the beast.
Black exchanges contact information with a happy Sera and heads home, but the beast is right behind him.
In fact, this beast is the product of Black’s destructive impulse!

Here comes the witch.

It’s New Year’s Eve. On New Year’s Eve, Black is summoned by Sera, who has been reporting daily vandalism in the city. Sera tells Kuro that she wants to punish the mastermind of the vandalism, but in fact, Kuro himself is the mastermind of the destruction.
Instead, Kuro follows her instincts and visits a rusty shrine on high ground. As they climb onto the roof of the empty shrine, their eyes are awakened by the beautiful first sunrise.
They are both impressed when a girl in the form of a witch suddenly appears.

The witch reveals that Black and Sera have an ability called “Instant Bullet” and that there are about 20 people with the same kind of power, including herself.
She also tells him that one of them is planning to drop a satellite with a nuclear weapon on the city.

The witch explains to Black that the Instant Bullet ability is only given to desperate people who are estranged from the world, and that she also knows about Black’s situation.
The witch asks Black to run away, but he falls asleep and dreams of the past.

Kuro never knew his mother, never cared for his father, and had a tenuous relationship with his grandmother, who lived with him after his father died. The only thing that sustained Kuro was the Jushiki and Iroha sisters who lived next door. Kuro, who was in love with the older Jushiki, was spending a happy time with the only two sisters who could be called family.
One day, however, Black saw a half-naked Juushiki clutching a bloody ashtray in her room, and a man lying beside her with his head bleeding.
Jushiki says to Kuro, “This world can surely end. That’s why I’m going to destroy it”. Shortly afterwards, her apartment catches fire and Jushiki dies.

When Kuro wakes up, he decides to accomplish what Iroh was hoping for: to end the world.
In order to do so, he decides to stop a satellite from falling, which is being done by someone other than himself.

Meanwhile, Sela is observing the satellite’s fall from a safe location where it will not be harmed. The witch is by her side.
She says that she had a hunch that Black was behind the recent destruction, and the sight of Black chasing after the satellite and the “beast” swallowing it convinces her that she was right.

Then the witch suddenly points a gun at Sera.
In fact, Sera was the mastermind behind the fall of the satellite.
Sera says that she dropped the satellite in order to kill the other ibs who gathered in this city to save the world.
Thus, Sera, who longed to be a hero, became evil for the sake of justice, and Black, who stopped the satellite to destroy the world, became a hero.

Japanese Azalea (Rhododendron japonicum)

The witch takes Kuro to a “secret base” in an alleyway in the city and brings him to Moroki, an ib psychic, in the shade of a tree.
There, the witch reveals that her ib ability, Laplace, allows her to see into the future, that the future she sees is absolute, and that 100 years from now, humans will die out because of the power of someone with ib abilities.

Later, when Kuro visits the secret base, he learns that the secret base is a space created by Moroki’s ib ability, and that it is a bookcase filled with his favorites.

Then the shade of a tree arrives, and he and Kuro get into an argument over who will destroy the world. The shade of the tree says “I won’t back out now”, but with a painful expression on his face as if he is about to cry, he runs out of the secret base.
When Morogi chases after him, the shade uses his ib ability to create a giant vine called a “skull azalea” that completely covers the radio tower.

Morogi is worried about Tree Shade when he climbs the tower, so he comes to the tower with a “meatless hamburger” for Tree Shade, who does not like meat. The shade of the tree says, “The pollen from the flowers of this plant (Rhododendron skull azalea) will destroy the world.
