[Azure Lane] The second season is a sure thing! What is the true intent of establishing an animation production company?

Is the establishment of the new company a stepping stone to a second term? Or…..

Azureen has recorded disc sales that are promising enough for a second season of production, but there was an event that strongly foreshadows the second season even more than that.
The establishment of a new company.

On January 8, 2020, Yostar, the game company that distributes the Japanese version of Azuren, announced the establishment of Yostar Pictures, a company whose purpose is to create, plan and produce animation for its own IP.
This company will allow Yostar to make the most timely animation of its intellectual property, the company said.
Japanese anime staff, including Kengo Saito, who served as the general animation director on SSSSS.GRIDMAN, and producer’s producer Ryosuke Inagaki, have been added to the board of directors.

Yostar has several other games as its own IP, but as of January 2020, Azuren is the only game that has become a big enough hit to be made into a TV anime.
In the future, the company will probably aim to adapt other games such as “Arc Nights”, for which they have already released an animation video, into TV anime, but for now, it seems that the biggest theme is making the best possible visualization of Azuren.
In fact, at the same time as the announcement of the company’s establishment, “Azurelane: Basoku Zensin! The company has also declared an anime video adaptation of

With the information up to this point, it would be tempting to say that the second season of Azuren is a done deal… but in fact, it is not impossible to say that there is another possibility.
It’s possible that the pattern could be that the Azuren anime will be rebuilt from scratch.

The first season of the Azuren anime was a hit, but on the other hand, the production environment was not necessarily a good one.
In fact, as far as the artwork is concerned, it started to get a little disorganized around episode 3, and after episode 4, the term “artwork collapse” was frequently thrown around by viewers.

And despite the fact that it was originally scheduled to end in 2019 with 12 episodes, due to production delays and quality issues, episodes 11 and 12 were postponed to March 2020, and the deterioration of the production environment finally came to the surface.

The company that produced the first season of Azureen was called Bible Animation Studio.
This new company was established in 2017 and is headed by Mr. Amashu (Motoki Tanaka), who worked as a director on “Kinlo Mosaic” and “Grisaia’s Fruit”.

Mr. Amashu is the director of the hugely popular “Is Your Order a Rabbit? He is highly regarded by anime fans for his skills as a storyboard artist and director of the second season ED, and he is also the director of Azuren.
On the other hand, Vibree Animation Studio has never been a TV anime production company and their only production experience is the OVA Grisaia: Phantom Trigger.
Phantom Trigger was well received for its beautiful and high quality drawings, but in the end they ran out of ideas for a TV series due to the differences in scheduling and other factors, or due to the limitations of their human network.

Because of this background, Yostar Pictures may have been founded with the idea of not leaving it to other studios, but instead wanting to set up a solid production system and provide fans with the best possible anime.
If this is the case, it’s only natural that Yostar would want to create all of the main Azuren anime, the pillar of Yostar’s business, by themselves…
Therefore, it’s quite possible that they may not make it in a second season, but from scratch.

However, the reason for postponing the broadcast of episodes 11 and 12 was “to make major revisions to episodes 1 through 10”, and if they are able to reach a high enough level of quality then it seems that they will not have to remake them again, but instead will produce a second season.

Of course, even if it is a remake, if the remake is well received and the sales are good, then the second season will be produced as a sequel.
However, in that case, it will take quite a few years for the film to be made.

Summary

With the formation of Yostar Pictures, things are going to move pretty well!
Whether it’s a second season production or a remake, it seems certain that there will be new developments, so we’ll still be able to watch the Azureen anime in 2020 and beyond.
First, let’s wait for the final two episodes to air in March 2020 and the official announcement!
