This is a four-panel manga that was serialized on Manga Time Kirara Carat from 2015-2019.
This work was also expected by Kirara fans as a candidate work for an anime adaptation, but it didn’t come to fruition and reached its final volume in 4 volumes.
It takes a long time for the Kirara series to be published in comics, and even with the 4 volumes, the serialization period is 4 years long, so there is not much of a sense of cessation.

Wakaba Girl

It is a 4-panel manga that was started by Yui Hara sensei of “Kinlo Mosaic” in 2010, the same time as the start of the series.
It was published in a magazine called Otome Tsushin.
It seems to have been published from the first issue, but because the magazine stopped publishing after 3 issues, it was only serialized up to the 3rd episode and was discontinued regardless of its popularity.

It is a common story up to this point, but after Kinmoza became a hit, this work started to attract attention, and in 2015, it became an unexpected anime.
Although it is a short anime of 10 minutes, it has gained popularity, and for a work of one volume, it boasts an unprecedented name recognition, and even now, the topic of “Wakaba Girl was interesting” comes up periodically.

By the way, the director of this Wakaba Girl anime was Watanabe Seiji.
He is the person who later led “Re:Zero to Hajimaru Isekai Seikatsu” to be a big hit.
The series composition was created by Hanada Yuki and the character design was created by Ishida Kana, who is known for the original illustration of “Puella Magi High School’s Inferior Students”, a rather gorgeous staff.

This film has only picked up on such a disgraceful record, but its content is in the same direction as Bobo Bobo Bobo, more of an absurd gag that makes no sense.
As you might expect, the reason for the loss is that it went too far.
After that, Sawai created a heartwarming daily life manga featuring characters from Bobo Bobo Bobo, called Fuwari! DONPACHI” and “HONNORI! His serialization of “DONPACHI” and a complete change in style and design became a hot topic of conversation.

This is an unusual treatment for a censored manga, and he is a work and manga artist who still has a strong fan base today.

Some of the censored manga ended after a short run, while others were huge hits, but their popularity waned in their later years and they were called off against their will.

Of course, it’s not a good idea for authors to discontinue a work, and they may not want to be teased about a failed work forever, but the rush and confusion in the last half of the story is something that comes from discontinuing a work, and I think that’s what makes it so unique and attractive.
