Great potential for animation

The total number of copies of “Yuukoku no Moriarty” exceeded 1,000,000 when it was released in volume 7, and it is a popular work that continues to increase in number of fans even now.
The same work serialized in JUMP SQUARE, “Onmyouji of the Two Stars” sold almost the same amount of copies and was made into an anime within 2 and a half years of its serialization, so it would not be surprising if this work is also made into an anime soon.
In terms of stock, there is enough of it to make it to the second season, so there is no hindrance to making it into an anime.
JUMP SQUARE also has a series of “Platinum End” that has been a huge hit but has yet to be made into an anime, but this one is by the Death Note duo, so there’s a good chance that a big project with a live-action adaptation in mind is going on behind the scenes.
On the other hand, “Yuukoku no Moriarty” is also a work that is well suited for a live-action adaptation due to the large number of handsome men and the high recognition of the original idea, so it is conceivable that a live-action adaptation could be in the works as well as an anime adaptation.
Either way, we can expect to see more media mixes in the future.
What was the inspiration for the original story?

As mentioned before, this work is based on the “Sherlock Holmes” series, and each character is also based on a character that appears in the series.
The incidents and crimes that Will and his friends commit are also inspired by the episodes of the “Sherlock Holmes” series.
The title of “Scarlet Eyes” in Volume 1 is based on “A Study in Scarlet”, “One Grapefruit Pie” is based on “Five Orange Seeds”, and “A Dancer on the Bridge” is based on “The Dancing Doll”.
However, the content is completely original and has little or no relationship to the original episodes.
The title of “The Noahmic Incident” in volume 2, in which Sherlock first appears, is probably based on the Gloria Scott incident.
The content of this one is also unrelated, but the fact that it is “the first case handled by Sherlock Holmes” is followed.
The episode “The Study of Sherlock Holmes”, which was depicted in volumes two and three, is based on “A Study in Scarlet” in terms of content.
The next episode, “The Hunt for the Baskervilles,” is based on “The Dogs of the Baskervilles,” as the title suggests.
Subsequent episodes are based on “The Ugly Story of Bohemia” and “Two Perpetrators”.
However, they are all “original stories” and the stories themselves are original, so even those who have already read the “Sherlock Holmes” series can enjoy them in a fresh way.
It’s finally going to be animated! Could it be live-action?
#憂国のモリアーティ pic.twitter.com/MNwvUf8pv4

In December 2019, a TV anime adaptation of The Melancholy Moriarty has been announced.
Details on the airing date, staff and cast will be announced in a future issue of Jump Square magazine.
The work is also quite suitable for a live-action adaptation due to the number of handsome men and the high visibility of the original idea, and the stage has already been set.
There is a good chance that it will be made into a drama or movie in the future.
Summary
It’s been said that it’s only a matter of time before it becomes an anime, so it feels like it’s finally here!
I think this will be an anime that will be supported by women because it has a lot of good looking guys in it.
If you’re a fan of anime with stylish, handsome guys in action, this one will definitely live up to your expectations!
