5ch “The Best Anime Ranking 2019” – 5ch People’s Choice
Taking the number one spot with an overwhelming number of points, with a double-score gap to second place, is Onimatsu, which is second in both sales and distribution.
It ranked in the top three in all six surveys, showing unprecedented strength in four of them, earning an overwhelming rating that is fitting for an anime that represents 2019.
The biggest factor that has garnered such a high rating is probably the quality of the artwork.
Not only in episode 19, but the battle scenes in the other episodes were of a high standard across the board, and the power, speed, and smoothness of the drawings made viewers shiver in every aspect.
The anime has been especially well received by foreign anime fans who prefer works with lots of action scenes, and it has recorded 380 million views on the major Chinese video site “Biribiri Video”, which is the highest ever.
It is showing a phenomenal growth both at home and abroad.
KAGUYA-sama and SHINJUKU tied for second place, with both works coming in at the same time.
Kaguya-sama ranked in the top 10 in all 6 surveys, and can be said to be an anime that was received by a wide range of people.
In particular, the special ED “Chika Chika Chika Chika” of episode 3, in which Clerk Fujiwara Clerk performs a slippery dance, was a buzz on the internet, and the video continued to gain more than 13 million views even after the anime was broadcast.
The voice actors were also well received across the board, and it seems that the stable quality and buzz created by the series was highly appreciated by many anime fans.
Sales of the third season of “Shingeki” dropped, but the evaluation of the content was better than the second season.
Especially the 54th episode, which depicts the battle against the Beast Giants, has received excellent reviews for both the artwork and content.
Fourth place goes to “PSYCHO-PASS Psychopath 3”, the first sequel in 5 years.
All the episodes were broadcasted in a one-hour slot, and when popular characters from the previous series such as Kogami and Ginosa appeared, it was immediately trending and received quite a bit of attention.
There were scenes that were difficult to understand without having seen the trilogy “PSYCHO-PASS: PSYCHO-PASS: Sinners of the System”, and there were elements that left viewers behind, such as the continuation of the story in the movie version instead of the TV series, but it was very popular among the fans.
In fifth place was Kemulixa, which also did very well in sales.
Animate Times and Anime! Animation! It was ranked second in the “I’m not a fan of this game,” and it can be seen that it sticks pretty deep in the minds of those who like it.
The sixth-ranked episode, “Mr. Takagi 2” received 3,636 votes in the goo survey, placing it in the top 10 in three surveys.
The second half of the episode is particularly popular, surpassing the first season in terms of ratings.
The seventh-ranked “Hero of Shield” is the only Narrowcast anime to be ranked in the top 10.
No. 8 “Machikado Mazoku” has been a hit for a long time in the Kirara anime and has gained a huge following on the internet, with the phrase “Shamiko is bad” becoming a popular phrase.
Tied for eighth place, “Beyond Astra” and “Vinland Saga” both received high praise for their stories.

The number one ani-song of 2019 is LiSA’s “Kourenka”.
SAO’s theme song “ADAMAS” was a huge hit last year as well, and this Kourenka became an even bigger hit with the Onimatsu boom, and even made it to Kohaku Utah.
The momentum of the song led to further sales growth, and it broke through 500,000 downloads, which was unusual for a theme song of a late night anime.
It has become one of the most representative songs of 2019, jumping over the frame of the anime.
Second place is “How many kilos of dumbbells can you hold? The video of “Please Muscle”, the theme song of
Especially, “Muscle Video” in which macho men and women actually work hard on muscle training to this song has exceeded 17 million views.
The total sales of both the CD and distribution reached about 150,000 hits.
In third place was ‘RESISTER’, the OP song of the second half of the first part of “Sword Art Online Alization”.
The CD and distribution totaled 110,000, making it a personal best hit for ASCA.
No.4 ‘Touch off’ is the OP song of ‘Yakusoku no Neverland’ produced by UVERworld, a band so popular that they can perform at domes.
The song has been a big hit in ani-song music for many years, and the total sales of this song also exceeded 100,000.
No.5 was “Love Dramatic”, which was the OP song of “Kaguya-sama wa Kuchereseraseitai” and was much talked about.
The veteran singer Masayuki Suzuki, who has many hit love songs such as “No More Tears” and “Koibito,” was responsible for the anime song, which was a surprise, but he also achieved the feat of recording a total of more than 100,000 hits.
Lyrics and music were composed by Yoshiki Mizuno of Kaikimonogakari.
Inferno at No. 6 is a song by Mrs. GREEN APPLE, which is currently popular among young people for streaming.
Below #7 are theme songs from hit anime such as Onishin, SAO and Fate.
No. 10, “Until You Reach Me” is a song by the popular group Ritogri, who also participated in Kohaku Utah, and was also composed by Ms. Mizuno.
Summary
This year, the strength of “Blades of Demise” was noticeable in all categories.
It’s showing a lot of strength in distribution due to its international popularity, so I get the impression that it’s become a bigger hit than its disc sales numbers!
Outside of Onimatsu, Kemlixa’s good work and Kaguya-sama’s high praise shines through.
In recent years, sequels tend to be made even if the disc sales aren’t as high as they should be if the distribution is strong, and “Shield Hero” is a perfect example of this.
The overseas popularity is especially noticeable, reaching 160 million views on the Biri Biri video, which was probably pretty big.
Looks like 2020 is going to be even more fragmented in terms of hits!
